FOX has saved one of its bubble shows.
The network has officially renewed supernatural drama “Sleepy Hollow” for a fourth season today.
After leading lady Nicole Beharie’s exit in the finale, and Zach Appleman’s Joe was killed of a bit earlier, the show is returning with Tom Mison, Lyndie Greenwood, Lance Cross and Jessica Camacho. Nikki Reed, however, who played Betsy Ross, is not returning in the new season, TVLine reports.
Meanwhile, NBC has canceled Eva Longoria starrer “Telenovela” after just one season, as well as “Undateable”, which leaves the air after three seasons.
I don’t have much time to do casting news at the moment, but let’s do one of those again for a change.
The Hollywood Reporter reports today that Jessica Camacho has been upped to a series regular on FOX supernatural drama “Sleepy Hollow”.
Camacho made her debut earlier in the season as Sophie Foster, a woman who is looking for artifacts and has ties to the late Sheriff Corbin (Clancy Brown).
The regular cast went through quite the change already. At the beginning of the third season, lead Tom Mison was the only male regular, surrounded by no less than four ladies – Nicole Beharie, Lyndie Greenwood, Nikki Reed and Shannyn Sossamon. The last episode debuted two additional males to Balance things out: Zach Appelman and Lance Goss. And now, another woman with Camacho, which puts the girls cleary into the majority again.
“Sleepy Hollow” fans should definitely check out “Bones” on Thursday at 8 PM, since that episode will be the first part of a special Halloween two-part crossover between the two shows.
Some items from lately.
– Dean Haglund has tweeted that the Lone Gunmen will be back for next year’s “The X-Files” revival. Question remains: The trio was supposedly killed off in the show’s ninth season. How they will reappear might just be one of the show’s mysteries that Mulder and Scully will have to solve…
Meanwhile, Chris Carter told me at the Neuchatel International Fantastic Film Festival (NIFFF) a few weeks ago that the writers who were hired to write episodes for the revival will be directing their written episodes themselves. Darin Morgan is one, as are Glen Morgan and James Wong. Carter himself writes and directs the bookend episodes.
– Shannyn Sossamon (“Wayward Pines”) has joined the cast of FOX’ “Sleepy Hollow” as a new regular, TVLine reports. She will play Pandora, a mysterious new presents who seeks assistance from Ichabod and Abbie.
– Aubrey Peeples, who plays singer Layla Grant on ABC’s “Nashville”, has been upped to a full-fledged series regular for the upcoming fourth season, TVLine reports. Additionally, Oliver Hudson’s Jeff Fordham has been reduced to a recurring character for next season.
Nikki Reed will soon enter the life of Ichabod Crane.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, Reed, best known of course for her role of Rosalie Hale in the “Twilight” films, has been cast by the FOX drama for the role of Betsy Ross, the seamstress who sewed the first American flag, but is also a covert operative in George Washington’s ring of spies – and a former flame of Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison).
The casting call for the role initially read as follows: “Think more Angelina Jolie than frumpy Martha Stewart — a kickass Mrs. Smith to Ichabod Crane’s Mr. Smith. (…) She is ruthless, smart and fearless, adjusting to blend in to whatever the situation demands, from demure handmaiden to honeypot to cutthroat spy.”
