And here’s today’s News Pack featuring the most important stories so far.
- MTV has decided to end its successful reality show “Jersey Shore” after its upcoming sixth season, it has announced. The final season will start Thursday, October 4, at 10 PM ET/PT.
The TCA Summer Press Tour 2012 is slowly coming to a close, but there are still some cable networks left that have their sessions and announcements.
Enter Syfy, for instance.
The cable network officially announced today that it has ordered a pilot from “The Sixth Sense”, “Signs” and “Unbreakable” writer/director M. Night Shyamalan and Marti Noxon (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, “Mad Men”) called “Proof”.
Things are about to get more, well, awkward for MTV.
The network has announced today that it has officially picked up its scripted drama “Awkward” for a third season.
According to a press release from MTV, it has officially renewed its sophomore drama “Teen Wolf” for a third season.
What’s especially worth mentioning is that the third season will feature double the amount of episodes that the first and second season offered.
There’s actually not much happening at the moment in terms of news, so I had to wait a bit longer to have enough material to create another News Pack.
But here it is, the stuff that made the rounds lately.
- TVLine’s Kimberly Roots reports that Sean Gunn, who played Kirk on “Gilmore Girls” back in the day, has signed on for a guest spot on Amy Sherman-Palladino’s new dramedy “Bunheads”, which airs Mondays on ABC Family. On the episode airing August 12, Gunn will play Bash ( which is short for Sebastian), an award-winning barista who is known for brewing some fine joe.
MTV has set Monday, August 20, at 10.30 PM for the premiere of its new scripted comedy “The Inbetweeners”, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The show follows four teenagers as they go through the rough life of high school and venture into adulthood. It stars Joey Pollari, Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman, Mark L. Young and Alex Frnka.
On to other stories.
The first News Pack of the week is pretty filled up. So let’s delve right into it.
