Hurricane Sandy is coming – and original series episodes are fleeing the scene.
CBS has announced today that there will be no original episodes of its Monday lineup. Comedies “How I Met Your Mother”, “Partners”, “2 Broke Girls” and “Mike & Molly” will air repeats instead, and the planned all-new episode of “Hawaii Five-O” at 10 PM has been pre-empted with a CBS News Special Report on Hurricane Sandy.

After an intense news day which was pretty much all about Emmy night, here are some other things that transpired.
- ABC Family has announced that Teri Polo (“The West Wing”) and Sherri Saum (“In Treatment”) have been cast in ABC Family’s drama pilot “The Fosters”, which is executive produced by Jennifer Lopez. It tells the story of Stef and Lena Foster, a mixed race couple who are raising a biological son, along with several adopted children. When Lena decides to take in Callie, a troubled teen with an abusive past, Callie’s disruptive ways threaten to turn the Fosters lives upside down.
Polo will portray Stef Foster, a tough but kind police officer who is not eager to add to their already large brood, but soon realizes her family may be Callie’s best hope for a better life. Saum will portray Lena Foster, an altruistic school principal, who is determined to save as many kids as she can and agrees to take in Callie without Stef’s knowledge.
Time for another big casting update.
- Per EW’s Tim Stack, veteran actor F. Murray Abraham (“Amadeus”, “The Name of the Rose”) has been added to the cast of Showtime’s upcoming second season of “Homeland”, where he’ll play the heavily recurring role of Dar Adul, “a brilliant intelligence operative in his 60-70’s. He has worked all over the world for the Special Activities Division of the CIA.”

Even though her regular role on “The Secret Circle” came to an abrupt end when the show got canceled after just one season, Jessica Parker Kennedy seems to bear no grudge against The CW.
The actress has joined the cast of another CW series, “90210″, for a potentially recurring part, Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reports.
When Canadian fantasy series “Lost Girl” returns to local broadcaster Showcase in the fall for its third season, it’ll have one more badass woman to offer.
Linda Hamilton (“Terminator”, “Chuck”) has signed on to guest star in the new season’s 10th episode as Acacia, “a tough, sexy and ruthless assassin who has enjoyed a storied and deadly career,” TVLine’s Matt Webb Mitovich reports.
Syfy, which airs “Lost Girl” in the U.S., will resume its airing of the second season of “Lost Girl” this Friday, at 10/9c, with the second season finale slated for September 14. Season three is said to air some time in 2013.
And on to more casting news.
The casting news front seems to be quite livid these days. Looks like the networks are stacking up for the new season, which begins filming these days.
- TVLine’s Michael Ausiello reports that “7th Heaven” alum Barry Watson has nabbed a recurring part on the upcoming sixth and final season of “Gossip Girl” on The CW. Watson is booked as – SPOILER ALERT! – Steven Spence, a young entrepreneur who becomes a new love interest for Serena (Blake Lively).
Love is in the air, when The CW launches its fifth season of “90210″.
According to TVLine’s Megan Masters, Riley Smith (“24″, “The Playboy Club”, “Drive”) has been cast on the teen drama in a recurring role.
