Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reports today that Showtime has officially picked up its half-hour comedy “Nurse Jackie” for a fifth season.
Additionally, the network has tapped former “Dexter” showrunner Clyde Phillips to take over running duties from co-creators Linda Wallem and Liz Brixius, who recently left their posts.
Production on the new season is said to begin in late 2012, with a potential air date sometime next year.
