At least for me, ABC’s upcoming fall drama “Last Resort” just got a whole lot more interesting.
Per TVLine’s Michael Ausiello, Robert Patrick, who plays the USS Colorado’s master chief Joseph Prosser, and was only a guest star in the pilot, has now been upgraded to a series regular.
In other news:
- Andie MacDowell has been cast in Hallmark Channel’s first real drama pilot called “Cedar Love”, per Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva. The project centers around the locals of a small town with the titular name. MacDowell plays Judge Olivia Lockhart, who is presiding over the local Municipal court which is described as “the professional milieu and social microcosm of issues the judge will face in her own day-to-day life with family and friends.” With MacDowell cast, Hallmark has committed itself to a series order, with production beginning late this year, for a launch date in early 2013.
- Per TV Guide’s Natalie Abrams, Adam Harrington and Currie Graham have boarded “Drop Dead Diva” for guest spots in the upcoming fourth season. “The Secret Circle” alum Harrington plays Paul Hewitt in the season’s ninth episode, the lawyer of a grieving stepmother who sues over custody for her dead stepson’s cremated ashes. And Graham (“Raising the Bar”) guests an episode later as Simon Grundy, a lawyer with no people skills who works with Jane when Deb’s mom, Bobbi (Sharon Lawrence) is sued over a young girl’s injury in Bobbi’s dance studio.
- Via Soap Opera Digest comes the news that Ian Buchanan, who joined NBC’s daytime soap “Days of our Lives” last February as Ian McAllister, husband to Madison (Sarah Brown), will exit later this summer, with Brown also leaving on August 15.
- EW’s Dan Snierson reports that Catherine Hardwicke, director of “Thirteen” and the first “Twilight” movie, has signed on to direct the fourth episode of the upcoming second season of AMC’s western “Hell On Wheels”.
