As soon as the long weekend is over, the news start dropping in again. Here are a few bits from the casting front.
TNT’s upcoming “The Closer” spinoff is getting a familiar guest star for its first episode, TVLine’s Michael Ausiello reports.
Michael Weatherly, who plays the always colorful Tony DiNozzo on CBS’ “NCIS”, has signed on to appear in the show early in the first season in one episode, playing Arthur “Thorn” Woodson, per Ausiello, “a charming con artist who currently works as an ”intuitive life strategist” for a group of Israeli mob wives (all of whom he is bedding). Described as a “Peter Pan with an A.D.D. problem,” Thorn previously held down jobs as a hand model, a ventriloquist and a black jack dealer. His dream is to someday land his own show on Oprah Winfrey’s fledgling cable net OWN.” Arvin Brown, who frequents as a director on “NCIS”, will direct the episode.
Meanwhile, Zuleikha Robinson (“Rome”, “Lost”) has signed on for a major recurring part on the second season of Showtime’s acclaimed drama “Homeland”, per Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva. She will play Roya Hammad, an Eastern woman with special ties to Abu Nazir (Navid Negahban).
And from the same source comes news that Wanda De Jesus (“CSI: Miami”, “All My Children”) is cast in FX’s new, fifth season of “Sons of Anarchy”, where she will recur in multiple episodes as Carla, a sexy, smart associate of Nero (Jimmy Smits).
